This is the dramatic moment a skier gets sucked into a giant avalanche and is swept away but miraculously escapes with his life.
Vladimir Jovanovski, 28, who is an experienced skier of 25 years had his first encounter with an avalanche while skiing down a mountain.
The footage shows Mr. Jovanovski hurtling down the mountainside, barely visible in the mass of white powder.
The native Macedonian can be seen being chased by an unstoppable avalanche of snow as he tries his best to stay on top of it.
Mr. Jovanovski said: ‘I’ve watched a lot of videos online and on YouTube of people being swept away by an avalanche but I never thought it could happen to me.
‘It felt very frightening, the sound that the avalanche makes when it starts if horrific, a crackling sound, and it suddenly it started picking up speed very fast and there was nothing I could do but try to stay on top of it by picking up speed.
‘I tried to do this by moving my arms and legs – I was just hoping I didn’t hit a rock or a tree while on my way down.
‘I felt very relieved when I eventually stopped at the bottom where I could let my friend know that I was okay.
Each year avalanches kill more than 150 people worldwide.
They are caused four factors including a steep slope, snow cover, a weak layer in the snow cover or some form of trigger.
