Invented in 1858 by John L. Mason, the mason jar is used today primarily for canning fruit for jams, jellies or pickles among other things. Utilizing an airtight screw-on lid, the jar allows for a seal that keeps the contents air free. The glass jars themselves are extremely durable and heat resistant since they are often boiled for sanitary purposes.
This recipe capitalizes on that durability, using the jars as a baking container for these quick and tasty treats!
